We love luxury cars. And that’s why we want to keep you in-the-know each time one of our favorite brands releases exciting news. Since 2009, the BMW X1 has been a favorite among BMW fans everywhere. Now, for the 2016 model year, the second generation of the BMW X1 will grace the auto world with its presence. The X1 is known for being a smaller SUV (and BMW’s smallest), so the redesign will be geared toward U.S. drivers, who typically desire more space. Along with more space, the new BMW X1 will amp up the technology and safety features. So, if you’ve been waiting for this SUV to get an upgrade, we have information on the 2016 BMW X1 features and release date. Read on for more details.

2016 BMW X1 features

The new BMW X1 xDrive 28i will give drivers a boost that previous model years may have been missing, by incorporating a 2.0-liter four-cylinder TwinPower engine. The engine will output about 228 horsepower at 5,000 rotations per minute, while still maintaining the efficiency of a small SUV. As far as interior features are concerned, an optional 6.5-inch display will give drivers the ability to keep up with real time traffic, BMW apps and much more. There is also an option to upgrade the size of the display to 8.8 inches, with an available touchpad. While that may sound like all you could ever need in an SUV, there will also be lane departure and forward collision warnings, which will come in an optional Driver Assistance Plus Package.
