2018 Land Rover Discovery sport design, engine and technology

In the world of cars, rumors are constantly flying. In regard to the 2018 Discovery, there are a few details that have traveled around about its design and technology, both of which are expected to be highly improved-upon.

2018 Land Rover Discovery SUV U.S. release dateDesign: The new Discovery model should offer a lighter body and sit lower to the ground (mimicking the style of the Discovery Vision concept), allowing for better handling and performance. The cabin is also supposed to get an upgrade, which should include new levels of sophistication. There will be seven seats available in the regular model, but a smaller Discovery Sport model should also be offered.

Engine: There aren’t plans to include a hybrid option in the future Discovery model, but there are rumors of Jaguar Land Rover developing new, powerful electric engines. There is little news in regard to the engines that the Discovery will offer, but it’s fairly certain that- due to lack of hybrid options- the brand will make up for it with power and performance.

Technology: Perhaps the most exciting whisperings surrounding the newest Discovery is the technology. In true futuristic fashion, the vehicle is expected to incorporate laser technology that can adjust transmission and suspension (depending on the state of the road), as well as self-parking technology. More news is sure to arrive if/when the model is revealed at the Geneva Auto Show, so stay tuned!

The fifth-generation Land Rover Discovery’s U.S. release date is not expected to occur until mid-2017.
