Guide to Dashboard Warning Lights and Indicators
There are plenty of lights and indicators that may illuminate in your vehicle. You may not always understand what they mean, but fear not! We have a guide to these dashboard warning lights and indicators so the next time one of them lights up, you’ll know what it means.
Indicator that the headlight high beams are on.
Headlight Indicator
Illuminates when your lights are turned on.
Cruise Control Indicator
Indicates that the Cruise Control feature is activated.
Headlight Indicator
Illuminates when your lights are turned on.
SRS Airbag On-Off Indicator
This light lets you know whether the airbags are activated or not. If the passenger does not weigh very much, the feature may not be activated.
Slip Indicator
This light illuminates when the vehicle detects slippage.
“TRAC OFF” Indicator
Indicates that Traction Control is off. Traction Control will activate as needed and then turn off automatically when it isn’t needed.
ABS Warning Light
This indicator lights up when there are issues with your automatic braking system, which will need to be checked out.
Engine Management Light
Illuminates when it detects an issue with your engine. This can be pretty broad, so it’s best to bring it in right away to get it checked out.
Indicates low tire pressure.
Maintenance Required Reminder Light
This indicator illuminates depending on what your owner’s manual says is required for your vehicle to receive a maintenance check.
SRS Warning Light
When you see this warning light, it means something is wrong with the system and your airbags will not deploy and the seatbelts will not automatically tighten in a collision.
Low Windshield Washer Fluid Warning Light
Indicates that the windshield washer fluid needs to be refilled.
Power Steering Warning Light
Indicates an issue with the electronic power steering feature.
Open Door Warning Light
Indicates a door or the trunk is not fully closed.
Low Fuel Level Warning Light
Indicates that you need to fill up with fuel as soon as possible.
Charging System Warning Light
This light indicates a problem with the battery or a vital circuit. When the light comes on, stop the car immediately and call for maintenance.
Low Engine Oil Pressure Warning Light
Indicates low oil levels.
Driver’s Front/Passenger’s Seat Belt Reminder Light
This light comes on when a driver or the passenger does not have their seatbelt fastened.
Eco Driving Indicator
This feature lets you know the vehicle will begin saving fuel by switching to Eco mode.
Turn Signal Indicator
Lets the driver know that the turn signals are activated.
