Top 5 Most Awkward Moments You Can Have While Driving

If you’ve ever driven a vehicle, chances are that you’ve experienced the highs and lows of sharing the road with several other people. There are plenty of things that might bother you as a driver, and there are plenty of things you may enjoy. While that may be the case there are also tons of extremely awkward moments you can have while driving, and we’re here to share what we view as the top 5. So, laugh if you agree, and share others you’ve experienced in the comment section below!

On-road eye contact.

This is a moment that can catch just about anyone off-guard. Sometimes the driver next to you looks at you in the exact moment you look over. What happens next? Do you wave? Smile? Look away without doing anything? We don’t know the right answer, but it certainly isn’t something we enjoy.

The dreaded four-way stop.

Here’s a riddle for you: four cars approach a four-way stop at the same time — which car goes first? There is a technically-correct answer to this, but it always seems to be such a hassle when the moment actually occurs. What actually happens is that all four cars sit there without moving, then all four try to go at once. This, of course, is not ideal, and the dance continues…

Being a victim of road rage.

We’ve all messed up on the road before. Sometimes, we’ll forget to use our blinker, accidentally cut someone off and/or a number of other bad road habits. Some drivers are gracious about it, but sometimes you’ll get reprimanded by the driver you wronged. This, of course, is very awkward. We suggest not making eye contact (see number one).

Catching a solo performance.

So, you pull up to a stoplight in your Mercedes or BMW and you’re minding your own business, but you accidentally look over at the person next to you and they’re jamming out to their favorite tune. This is great, until they look at you and stop. You now have to sit at that stoplight for another minute or two with the person you caught performing their solo. It’s enough to make both people uncomfortable.

Unintentionally following someone.

This might be one of the worst moments we’ll discuss here. It’s okay if you follow a vehicle for a block or two, but once it’s been about 20 minutes and you’re making the same turns at every light, it gets weird. Maybe the person in front of you is checking their rearview mirror frantically, and you can’t do anything about the fact that they think you’re following them. You are automatically a creep – sorry.
