How does wireless charging work?

The race for providing wireless charging technology has recently been on the rise. With automakers more focused on emitting less fuel, more electricity has been used to power vehicles. Because of this, advancements in charging have also had to take place. Through wireless charging systems, drivers should be able to charge their electric vehicles or plug-in hybrids by simply parking in the appropriate spot. The charging systems aren’t expected to be any faster than wired systems, but the convenience of not having to be attached to wires may be enough to convince potential buyers. Highway lanes equipped with the technology have also been discussed, but first, let’s see what Mercedes-Benz plans to do with the budding technology.

When will the 2017 Mercedes-Benz S 550e be released in the U.S.?

As we stated earlier, Mercedes-Benz is expected to integrate a wireless system into its 2017 S 550e plug-in hybrid. The current buzz is that the new S 550e will have a better electric range than the current model’s 14 miles, and the new charging system may have something to do with that increased range. While we aren’t entirely certain when the model will be released in the U.S., Mercedes-Benz is usually fairly quick about releasing future models as soon as possible.
