2016 Summer Events and Festivals Near Dallas, TX

It isn’t officially summer until it’s festival season — and the time has finally come. Texas knows how to celebrate big and the following festivals and celebrations are no exception. Continue reading to learn about some of the most popular 2016 summer events and festivals near Dallas, TX.

Bulladora Festival

Looking for something to do with your friends? Or maybe somewhere to take your significant other on a date? Enter the Bulladora Festival — a festival founded on progressive thinking and having as much fun as humanly possible. Founded by a group of Dallas natives, Bulladora aims to propel Dallas’ thriving cultural scene by celebrating music, art, innovation, and adventure.

The primary music genre at the festival is Indie Pop and the lineup is packed with world-renowned artists such as Paper White, AlunaGeorge, and Yeasayer. The festival also features a handful of interesting attractions, such as hot air balloon rides, a pug petting zoo, interactive art, as well as a Flea-Style pop-up shop. Art will also be featured from local artists in the Dallas area.
The festivities will take place in Reverchon Park from June 3rd to the 5th and tickets are available for purchase on the festival’s website.

Taste of Dallas

A celebration of food, art, music, and family, the Taste of Dallas festival is celebrating its 30 year anniversary this summer. With 13 different areas inside the event, there is bound to be something for the whole family to enjoy. This festival features a wide variety of fun activities, such as a Chef Demo Stage, a Health and Wellness hub, a Kids Zone, and an action-packed Midway.

A large focal point of the festival is the Main Stage, where live music is played all day. Some featured performers include Decades, The Molly Ringwalds, and Everclear. Another main attraction is the Etsy Dallas Artisan Market, where over 50 handmade artisans will be on display. The largest attraction, however, is Restaurant Island, where over 45 food booths ranging from Indian to Mexican will be offering tastings priced from $2 to $5.

Taste of Dallas will be held in Fair Park from June 3rd to the 5th and tickets are available for purchase on their website and general admission is free for kids 11 and younger.

The Lava Luau

Just a short drive away from Dallas, the Lava Luau is the perfect place to enjoy some family-fun-in-the-sun. Located in the downtown square of Carrollton, this summer kick-off party features live music, vendors, contests, and a traditional hula dance. The live performances feature local Texas bands, including Combo Mahalo and the Thunderchiefs. The kids can test their skills at the Hula Hoop and Limbo contests, while the parents can participate in the Hawaiian fashion contests.

The event will take place on Saturday, June 18th from 2-8 pm in Carrollton, TX. Best of all, admission is completely free.
