We know that the Land Rover Defender hasn’t been sold in the United States for quite some time now (since 1997, that is), but the buzz is that that’s about to change. Hailed as one of the world’s most iconic vehicles, the Defender should be revealed across the pond just in time for its 70th Anniversary. While rumors have been spread about a 2016 release of the new Defender, the latest whisperings are that we’ll be seeing a 2019 Land Rover Defender U.S. release date. So, those of you who have followed the Defender can get excited, because we have heard a bit more on this topic.
2018 reveal for 2019 Land Rover Defender
We’re sure you caught wind that the old Defender models are no more, but also that a newly-formed Defender will be born. While the vehicle is rumored to be released to the United States (and Canada) in 2019, the date of its showroom reveal should be in 2018, which will coincide with the Defender’s 70th Anniversary. We know that’s a long time to wait, but apparently the wait will be well worth it. The two-millionth Land Rover Defender
That’s right, Land Rover has built 2,000,000 Defenders since the vehicle debuted almost 70 years ago. This year (2015) in May, a team of Defender-lovers were invited to the Solihull plant in the United Kingdom to assist in the production of the the 2-millionth Defender. See what the Defender has meant to some of the production workers below, and don’t forget to keep your eye on the horizon for the auction planned at Bonhams, London on 16th December, 2015 (the 2-millionth Defender will be one of the main attractions).
