Official trick-or-treat hours in Dallas-Fort Worth TX

Traditionally, DFW has held its trick-or-treat hours on Halloween night, which will also be the case this year. While Dallas doesn’t have exact trick-or-treat hours, it is recommended that willing participants make their way into neighborhoods around sundown. On Halloween night, the sun should set around 6:30, giving trick-or-treaters a good three hours to gather as many goodies as possible. Most of the younger trick-or-treaters will last until around 9 p.m., but lights should be out around 9:30 p.m. (for the extremely avid trick-or-treater). If you plan on heading out for a night of trick-or-treat, we have a few safety tips to help ensure that you and yours have a safe, fun night.

Trick-or-treating safety tips

Halloween night is meant to be fun, so it’s important that safety precautions are not ignored. Since Dallas is a larger area, it’s important to remember the following things before heading out for the night:

  1. Make sure costume is visible in the dark.
  2. Costume should not prohibit vision or movement (masks, clothing that is too long, etc.).
  3. When possible, stay on sidewalks.
  4. Do not trick-or-treat alone.
  5. Avoid carrying toy weapons.
  6. Follow all traffic laws.
  7. Check candy before consuming it.
